What I look for in a Board member (written for Telegram last year)
Last year I wrote a paragraph about Board elections and posted it on a Telegram Channel. Since many of you aren't part of that channel, I thought I'd reprint it here...particularly timely as we head into 2022 Board elections. Here's what I wrote on 7/7/21...before I decided to run for the Board. Credentials matter little. I want a Board member who will: - Stand up for and uphold the original vision of Brays Island established by Sumner Pingree and Robert Marvin (isn't that why we are all here?) - Push against external pressures on Brays Island - Understand that the collective will of the Owners informs the actions of the Board, not the other way around - Stand up against personal agendas - Accept that we are all Owners, not members and that we do not want to be managed - Promote TRANSPARENCY, seek open discussions and actively solicit the disparate views of Owners, knowing that we all come from different walks of life, and have something to contribute based on our uniqu...
