RUNNING FOR THE BOARD: Fight or Collaborate?
When I called one of my signers, he responded by saying:
"I don't want to run for the Board."
I explained..."no I'm not asking YOU to run for the Board.
I'm running for the Board."
"I don't want to run for the Board."
I explained..."no I'm not asking YOU to run for the Board.
I'm running for the Board."
Why did you say that, I asked?
He said, "I don't want to run because I don't want to FIGHT with my neighbors."
Fight with your neighbors?
Why does this have to be a fight?
It doesn't.
It's so interesting.
BIP is a competitive place. We have shooting competitions, golf tournaments, tennis matches...it's all ABOUT competition.
I am "competing" with several people, some with whom I communicate every day.
We are collaborating with each other.
This can be a COLLABORATIVE process. That's been my experience.
